We have been collaborating artists our entire married lives. Our work is always evolving. The experiences we share, or individually participate in, become a part of what we create. Bruce photographs and throws pots and I paint and create jewelry and other objects from precious metals. Bruce's photos are sometimes the inspiration or reference for my paintings and often times I sculpt and carve into his pottery. The results from our combined knowledge and skills becomes something beautiful that we enjoy sharing. Enjoy.

Sterling and Crystal earrings SOLD

I decided that I was tired of using the circle shape for earrings. I love this leaf stamp and wanted to use it as an all over pattern so my choice of rounded edges seemed to be more natural than 90 degree angles. After hand stamping them I decided to look for a green bead to use but there just wasn't enough "sparkle".  I do love sparkle! These pretty crystal beads catch the light and add just the touch I was looking for. The entire length of these dangles are approximately 3/4" and look great with long or short hair.

Sterling and Blue China ring Size 4.5

This ring is sterling even though the photo looks rather gold, it is not gold. The shard of course came from a piece of China that I ground into this shape.  I decided to make the shank small to fit a small hand since most of my creations seem to be sizes 6,7, and 8! However if you are a size 5, I can stretch this ring to fit you.

5" stoneware Tree Vase, SOLD

Rose bud china and sterling ring size 8

Stoneware Bowl with hand painted (liquid iron) inside

This bowl is 8 inches wide and 5 inches tall, oven proof, microwavable, and dishwasher safe

Carnelian Sterling Ring Size 7

Stonware 6.5" Tree Pitcher SOLD

Blue China Shard Triangle Ring Size 7

This clean and geometric design with a plain but substantial shank was created from a broken
piece of china.  I ground it to this triangular shape and decided I liked it simple so that the unique
shape and material would be what attracts the eye when you are wearing it.

Stoneware Rice Bowl with wooden chop sticks

This rice bowl is one of a pair and soon to be one of a series of rice bowls.  Cathy did her tree thing
in iron and attached the swirl which she said makes her think of "roots" which makes her think of rice as a main stay to many cultures.  In any case I think it works here and would like to know what you think, just press comment below.

Victorian Earrings, sterling and pearl

The background in this photo gives the silver a brassy look however they are actually sterling that I
antiqued with liver of sulfur and buffed to reveal the flower pattern. I soldered a 20 ga. wire and attached two beautiful coral colored pearls along with sterling beads to create a very feminine look.  Hope you like them. FREE SHIPPING UNTIL DECEMBER 25

Aventurine Ring size 8.5

I originally made this ring for myself, however I decided I have enough rings and I've decided to part with it!  Aventurine is a variety of Chalcedony and this particular stone is a beautiful color. To me it resembles the color of a piece of beach glass, that pretty light blue with a touch of green in it. The bezel I chose to use has a glitter to it when the light hits the tops of the pattern. The shank has been rolled to produce a flat edge, which makes it very comfortable to wear.

Oct 24, 2010

Just got back from a wonderful relaxing and inspiring week in the Green Mountains of Vermont.
I sketched a mountain scape from the window, however it took almost three days because of a combination of fog, rain and snow! I would have loved to draw the Scottish Highlander Cows in the pasture next to our cabin but the temps were just too low for that.  Bruce took some great photos and I found some great little baubles to incorporate into my silver from the little shops lining the main street in town. Thank goodness I took my alpaca hat and leather gloves because it felt mighty cold in them there mountains!!!  Stay tuned in for pictures to come!

"Alone at the beach"11x14, acrylic

SALE! SALE! SALE!
Alone at the beach was part of my "pear series" and an attempt at being witty! The pear in the lower left foreground is alone and attempting not to look at the happy "pair" in the background!  I will be posting paintings at sale prices from now until Christmas to make room in my studio for my new crop of "frogee" paintings!  Thanks for looking!

Mother of Pearl,glass,sterling beaded earrings

The donut shaped beads are mother of pearl. I found these little beads in Canada this summer. I threaded a sterling bead through the middle of the holes to give them some sparkle. The bottom beads dangle and move because I hung them separately from the last green bead.  All components are sterling silver.

"Boston Lettuce" 13x13 acrylic on linen

This little painting is one of my "kitchen series".  I love the leaves of cabbages and big greens and I can get lost  on the canvas while I'm painting.  It's a nice size piece and is gallery wrapped and painted on all edges so it doesn't really need a frame. I spend a lot of time in my kitchen and have many paintings hanging there so I decided to have some fun with "food" images.  Enjoy!

Beach Green and Sterling Earrings

I don't even remember where I got these beautiful triangular beads. I seek out beads everywhere I travel! I love the combination of greens here and the sand blasted silver beads. The hooks are a new style I'm trying and they are very sturdy findings. Bruce does such a great job photographing my work and this is one of my favs so far!  What a team!

10mm sterling post earrings/opals/aquamarine

Aquamarine 5mm stones are the focal point of this small (10x10mm) pair of posts.  The silver has been textured with a riveting hammer and oxidized to look dark in contrast to the beautiful color of the stones. Posts and backings are of sterling as well

Opal 5mm cabs are the focal point of this 10x10mm pair of posts.  Again, I textured the silver behind the opals and oxidized them so the darkness of the silver would contrast with the fire in the opals.  All components are sterling silver.

Crystal,resin and silver earrings SOLD!

Fun with Purple and Green!

"Pretty as a Picture Jasper" pendent

You know how some days everything comes together just right?  Well, that happened in the studio a couple of days ago and this is what came of it.  We all know it doesn't occur often so when it does you have to relish the outcome, right?  I don't think I can part with this piece, at least not right away.

Turquoise set in Sterling with double half round shank

I chose to use another turquoise stone and set it as a ring.  I like the clean lines and kind of Deco
look this ring turned out to have.  I tend to like large amounts of color in my designs and therefore
this stone being on the bigger side, seemed to be a wonderful excuse to make a size for a man or woman wearing a size 11.5.  Very often I design and create pieces to fit my fingers or wrists, but this
piece would look wonderful on a larger hand.

Turquoise and Sterling bracelet with hand made chain and magnet closing

Well I had fun designing this piece. I wanted to repeat the circle theme so I decided to use 10 ga. silver wire to make circles to solder on either side of the bezel and attached the chain on either side to fit around the wrist. I was concerned that the weight of the stone might allow it to hang under rather than on top however the chain makes all the difference and the empty circles on either side keeps the bracelet light.  The best part of this piece is the strong little magnets rather than a hook or lobster claw. It's easy to put on yourself without the help of someone to hook it closed for you!

FREE SHIPPING Lapis Lazuli Pendent (open back) with hand made chain with cobalt glass beads.

I struggled a bit making the setting for this piece.  I'm not used to making open back bezels, however I think it came out quite well. The chain was enjoyable to make since I decided to add the glass beads and It picks up the beautiful blue of the stone as well.  For us "seniors" that have difficulty putting on those necklaces with the little lobster claw findings...good news! I used a magnetic closure and its a very strong magnet so not to worry!  Just put this around your neck and the two ends will snap together,  "easy peasy"!!  I'm working on getting pay pal on our blog but in the mean time if you're interested in this piece, just email us or call and we'll take care of the details for you.  Enjoy!

Sep 10, 2010

Well, I won't be creating much this week because I'm traveling but I hope to get some inspiration from the Atlantic ocean...and hopefully not in the form of a storm or hurricane.  Right now I have a painting on my easel for my nephew and his soon to be wife.  It's a landscape with their house painted on a flowered hillside...very romantic.  I took some artistic liberties with the architecture but it still looks like their home.  Although I'm not usually comfortable painting landscapes or houses, it's been a pleasant experience.

Sterling and Amethyst Cuff

This is another version of the last cuff I did with the moving beads.  This time I found a beautiful Amethyst crystal bead that mimics the negative space it occupies.  This bracelet is a little roomier than the last and will fit a 6.5 or 7 inch wrist.  It's made with a heavy 18 ga. double half round wire and the silver balls on either side of the opening are soldered in place to support the wire wrapped between them.  Very comfortable piece.  I would love to read your comment below if you could find a few minutes to write one.  Thanks for looking....C.

Silver Nugget Cuff with black pearl

This bracelet is a cuff and will fit an average size wrist (6")

Sterling with moving black onyx and sterling beads Cuff bracelet

This piece was so much fun to make and has the "worry" beads strung down the middle which can move.  The size is for an average size wrist (6"from end to end). Its made from heavy guage silver so it shouldn't be squeezed closed or pulled open but instead slid on from the narrow side of the wrist and turned to fit.  PLEASE COMMENT.

Hadassah 29th Annual Professional Craft Fair November 21, 9:30-4

Bruce and I will be participating for the first time in this venue in Gloversville NY.
We've heard wonderful things about it and its a juried show so I'm confident that it
will be a professional group of artists.  It's located in the Gloversville Middle School.
I hope you'll support us and come out and do some of that special Christmas shopping.  Thanks.

Labradorite on sterling neck ring SOLD

This semi precious stone from Labrador is so beautiful that I set it open in the back so the light could pass through and you can see the amazing shaft of blue reflected in the stone itself.  I'm thinking of making a chain for it rather than using the neck ring.  If you care to comment below about this I would appreciate knowing what you think about that idea. PLEASE COMMENT

This design is also available in Lapis.

Sterling Silver hand cut converse sneaker earrings with red shoe laces

This is one of the last pair of "shoe" earring series that I did a while back.  I think I must have made 50 pair of different kinds of foot ware! I cut out many different styles of high heels, boots (combat, high heel, etc), flip flops.... it proved to be very time consuming and although fun to explore the design world of shoes, I just got tired of it. PLEASE COMMENT, THANK YOU.

"Made in New York: the art of the Vessel"

Sterling Dancing Figure earrings with black onyx faces $65 SOLD

These are by far my favorite design in earrings!  I made myself a pair 15 years ago and if I had a nickle for every compliment I've been given on these I'd.....well you know the rest!  I make each pair a little different each time I make them. These are really happy guys!!!  comment? Although these are sold I can make a similar pair for you.

Lapis Lazuli pendent on sterling chain with glass beads $150

This little gem gave me a hard time to set. The back is open rather than set on a solid backing of silver. This makes the piece lighter and when the stone is transparent light may pass through it.  The chain was fun to make and I think the beautiful blue beads set off the deep rich blue of the Lapis.  Let me know what you think by posting a comment!  Thanks.

Sterling Silver double half round with bezeled Precious Serpentine stone/size 8.5/$75

"Spring Peeper on Lilly"

ahhhh, finally done!

Aug 22, 2010

Spent the last two days buried in my studio...I must clean soon!  Finished this lilly with peeper painting. I'll post the finished painting tomorrow. Couldn't get the light today with all the overcast and rain to take a photo. Not sure how I feel about it.  I don't have the connection I have with the dandelion with peeper painting.
My next and final in this series will be a red bee balm with peeper!  Found a canvas I had stretched boat canvas on with some of my abandoned beginnings yesterday...wrinkled but I popped the staples and actually ironed it from the back and re-stretched it.  Good to go now for more frogee research.  Any ideas?

Aug 18, 2010

Starting a new canvas the same size as the dandelion with spring peeper.  I'm thinking orange lily, however, I never realized how difficult a color orange is to work with...have changed the background color three times.  Originally wanted to do a series of three, yellow (dandelion) with purple, orange (lily) with blue, and red (bee balm) with green....not working, so I changed my strategy.

"Face in the Window"$38

FACE IN THE WINDOW POT $38
This little 4" pot was thrown on the wheel by Bruce and while
it was leather hard I decided to put a little window in it with this elfin face
looking out!  Bruce glazed it celadon (except for the face) and then I rubbed silver leaf oil based
paint over his little face.  What do you think?
