We have been collaborating artists our entire married lives. Our work is always evolving. The experiences we share, or individually participate in, become a part of what we create. Bruce photographs and throws pots and I paint and create jewelry and other objects from precious metals. Bruce's photos are sometimes the inspiration or reference for my paintings and often times I sculpt and carve into his pottery. The results from our combined knowledge and skills becomes something beautiful that we enjoy sharing. Enjoy.

Our booth at the Oak and Ivy Christmas Show

Hi friends,
We are here for our third year at the Oak and Ivy Bed and Breakfast Christmas Show in Rome, New York. The wonderful smells are everywhere from the baking and cooking going on in the kitchen, sounds of Christmas music and the beautiful decorations everywhere. Fred Rice has once again worked his magic in this beautiful Victorian home.

Cat and dog lovers unite!!!!!!!!!

I'm wrapping up those days of glass painting by gathering all the glasses and dishware from my studio (hurray...more space!) and painting them up for the open house. After much research and searching stores, I finally found a permanent ink pen to use along with my glass paints. It was fun to revisit this craft again but probably will say a final goodbye and back to my canvas and metals.

Oh and by the way, these are all dishwasher proof!!!!

Commissioned Piece

I'm not a fan of commissions and its certainly not because I think I'm above them in any way but I
do believe that teaching Art in our Public Schools for 28 years may have something to do with the way I feel about them. I think its the idea of having parameters that dampens my creative spirits.
Bruce is fine with them and often takes on multiple orders, but unless you're a close friend or relative or someone I know understands that I may drift a bit from the initial request, I'd rather not do them.
So, having said all that, here are some shots of a slave bracelet that I'm doing for a "special" person!
And may I add that she is an artisan and gallery owner and truly understands the creative spirit.

Sneak Peek at a new bracelet, available October 8-9 at our Second Annual Home Show in Remsen

Well, I do enjoy numbers and patterns and find myself playing with Chainmaille quite often. The entire chain is made with Sterling Silver links (anywhere from 22 gauge to 16 gauge) that I hand wind and saw apart to make what are called: jump rings. The closures are also hand made. I find that the "S" hook and "eye" is a much more secure closure than the commercial closures.
Once the "jump rings" are made, I begin opening and closing them in a pattern. The pattern I use the most is the Byzantine Pattern. It's a very sturdy and heavy rope type of chain that allows many variations. Because I'm a big fan of "color", I tend to add "sparkle" and "color" with faceted beads.
The above uses "peridot" faceted beads and glass Millefiori (Italian: [milleˈfjoːri]) is a glasswork technique which produces distinctive decorative patterns on glassware beads.

have to circle, scribble a note, and add a post it note to it so that you'll remember a month from now!
The dates are similar to last year in that its Columbus Day Weekend, we've chosen. Saturday and Sunday will give you a chance to spend an afternoon coming to the Adirondacks and enjoy the leaves and hot cider and some fun art work both in our shop and in our home.  Stay tuned for more info!!
