We have been collaborating artists our entire married lives. Our work is always evolving. The experiences we share, or individually participate in, become a part of what we create. Bruce photographs and throws pots and I paint and create jewelry and other objects from precious metals. Bruce's photos are sometimes the inspiration or reference for my paintings and often times I sculpt and carve into his pottery. The results from our combined knowledge and skills becomes something beautiful that we enjoy sharing. Enjoy.

Dragons

California Jade

Backplate with bail and dragon cut out

Finished piece

So I sold the above pendant to one of my favorite person from my passed days of teaching. She was a student and we've been connected once more by Facebook. One of the reasons for posting my current work is to reach out to my friends and those interested in our work and post our art finished and or in the process! So here is my next idea for a pendent.

I purchase this carved Jade bead (notice the little hole at the top) about 10 years ago in Charleston SC and I've had it squirreled away to use at some point in time...Well after cutting the dragon from my last piece (above) I decided to bring it out of hiding! I've made a bezel for it and cut the backplate for it. My idea is to use a braided channel wire trim all around it. I soldered a post so that I could slide the Jade over it and use the black half drilled pearl on the post to cover the hole. Of course before I did this I drew and cut the dragon out of the arch above where the Jade will be set. I'm still deciding if I want to set two small (3mm) jades in both bottom corners. I think I will solder the braided trim on before deciding.  Well...stay in touch for more progress!
