Well, I'm cleaning out my studio here in NY and having all kinds of mixed emotions, but mostly feeling as though I'm dismantling my entire artistic life! I'm finding tools that reminded me of a time when I considered being a sculptor! Remnants of my interest in "locker hooking" (emphasis on locker!) Shelves of hats, shoes, gloves, and objects and icons from the 30s,40s and 50s that I referenced from for my series of paintings! Old metal roller skates that I painted! Oh it goes on and on! Seed beads....many many beads from my intrigue with beaded bezeling. Yes and many old china dishes that I was saving to create those wonderful "mosaics" and china shard jewelry (which btw I am still doing!)
I find myself working to clean out and organize for approximately 30-40 minutes before I begin settling down with sketch books, plans for this, or written ideas on scraps of paper stuck inside of magazines or books. How long will this process take me at this rate???
Oh right! I'm writing about my big old friend the Drafting Table. Its wonderful in its hugeness and heaviness! Its in great shape. Its top is 38x48 and the pedestal base and three legs are cast iron and takes an army to move it!!!! If you have room for this beautiful antique and can give it a good home and most of all, can use it...please contact me. All its mechanisms work. $350 obo
