Hexagon Ring Shank? Really?

 OK, you'll have to excuse these rather mediocre photos. I was obviously behind the camera this time and its obvious that I'm not as good as Bruce. I took a chance with using the hexagon for a shank but I think its pretty cool! The best part is that its comfortable. The angled parts actually fall somewhere just under the finger, rather than between the fingers.

 The blue moonstone I used was a purchase from the gem show in Orlando, Florida. Its flash is great and the size is just under 3/4 of an inch long.

Porcelain and Celadon

 This piece is a 6 inch tall Vase. It's been hand carved with a flower Art Deco Design on both sides. Signed on bottom with "B. and C. Thomas"$40

 This is a Blue Celedon Vase made with porcelain. It is 5.5 inches tall and has been carved and stamped with an all over design by Cathy. Signed on the bottom with "B. and C. Thomas"$35

 Another porcelain and celedon Vase. I do like this glaze a lot and find that Cathy's carving and sculpting are enhanced by it. Its 6" tall. $45

New pottery

I discovered this form is something I enjoy making and it seems to work very well with Cathy's love of Art Deco. This piece is made with porcelain clay and glazed with Amber Celedon. This
piece is 6 inches high. $40

I made this "jug" form from stoneware clay and I applied the design with white slip. It's 7 inches high and glazed with Amber
Celedon as well but you can see how the different clay body effects
the colors. $45

A trip to The Hedges

What a wonderful couple of days at this great Adirondack Lodge and Resort. The weather was
great for kayaking and the food and drinks were awesome. Best part was the friends and company we were with. Thanks Blanche and Tootie!

WOODLAND SERIES

I've been working on this "woodland series" for awhile now and I know I should be happy that
I keep selling from it, but the time its taking me to stock a good inventory seems to be endless!
Because you know I love to experiment with imagery and techniques I will continue to find
textures and forms to fit this theme. The reticulated rings are so much fun to do and I've been able to
hand cut from stock a group of different Adirondack birds. Some of what you see here have gone to
loving homes but others are still available.

Reversible Jasper Pendent

 What a time I had with this piece. This is what you call a learning
experience piece! So I'm finally finished after working on it for several weeks on and off. I started it at the studio in Florida and dragged it all the way home to finish it. I'm loving the weight of the stone and enjoying how it feels around my neck and suddenly it snaps and drops off. One of the soldered jump rings attached to the bezel snapped off. Removing the stone carefully and gently from its comfortable bezel was no easy task.
  Well, its soldered back together and very secure and is back to being wearable. The chainmaille it hangs from is very simple but
I felt a need to create my own chain since I couldn't find one that
looked and felt like a match for the stone. I think it mimicks the form of the pendent and visually supports the size of the piece much better than a small tight patterned chain.

  I 've been avoiding making porcelain mugs for some time now.
Porcelain, which I love, create special problems for potters such as warping and handles popping off.  Cathy and a few friends kept asking when are we going to see those mugs?  So to make a long story short - here they are! Each is beautifully carved by Cat,
no two are alike.

 Another beautifully carved blue celadon coffee mug !!  Each mug takes about an hour of her time to decorate. Anyone that knows her knows she has great patience.

This little green celadon porcelain vase was actually carved by me. Nothing elaborate but I found how time consuming the joy of carving really is.  At one time I knew exactly how many little divots I carved in this vase. Luckily I've forgotten but I think it's somewhere around three hundred.

This beautifully carved light green celadon vase was carved by
Cathy. You may notice the difference in the skill level of the carving.  My sweet wife just keeps encouraging her students such as myself.  It's also 5 1/2 inches tall.  $65.00

Gorgeous undulating waves encircle this vase which is 6 inches tall by six inches wide. Again this is a light green celadon glaze on a porcelain clay body fired at cone ten. $95.00

Szozda Gallery Closing 2013

Sorry to be leaving Szozda Gallery in Syracuse, NY. Caroline has been wonderful for the many years she has represented us. She will be missed not only by ourselves but by many local artists.

Larimar Larimar Larimar!

 I guess you could say I developed a mad crush on Larimar!!! It's probably the obvious "ocean" related color thing going on, but I just love it.
I recently purchased a few stones at the gem show in Orlando and couldn't wait to set them.
   I made the pendent with the bowl and neck of a vintage sterling spoon. The ring has my signature vine and ball design. I've since created two more pieces which I will post in a couple of days.
